Delete your Ritsu account

Self-serve account deletion from Settings. Export your data first if you need it. Some legal records are retained.

You can delete your account from Settings without contacting support. The deletion is final — no soft-delete, no 30-day grace.

Before you delete: export your data

If there's anything you want to keep (decks, notes, quiz history, exported markdown of your learning sessions), do this first:

  1. Open Settings → Privacy → Export my data.
  2. Click Request export. We assemble a ZIP and email a download link within 24 hours.
  3. The download link is valid for 7 days. Save the ZIP somewhere safe.

The export is a one-shot request — you can re-request anytime, but if you delete the account first, the data is gone.

Delete the account

  1. Open Settings → Profile → Delete account (the dangerous button at the bottom).
  2. Read the confirmation page. Specifically note:
    • Your email becomes available for new sign-ups in 30 days
    • Your active subscription is cancelled (no refund — see Refund policy)
    • All decks, sources, sessions, notes are deleted
  3. Type your email to confirm.
  4. Click Delete my account permanently.

You're signed out immediately. Your data is queued for deletion within 24 hours.

What's deleted

  • Account record + all profile fields
  • All saved decks, quiz history, notes, learning sessions
  • All uploaded sources + extracted PoKs
  • API tokens
  • Cached embeddings + AI conversation history
  • Email reachability records (you stop receiving anything from us)

What's retained

A few things are kept for legal / compliance reasons, regardless of deletion:

  • Billing records: payment receipts retained for 7 years (tax / accounting requirement). These are separated from your profile and stored under a hashed reference.
  • Audit logs: minimal records of admin actions on your account (security investigations) — anonymised after 90 days.
  • Aggregate analytics: usage data already aggregated into anonymous statistics stays in those aggregates (we can't unmix it). No individually-identifying info.

OAuth accounts

If you signed up via Google / Apple / Microsoft, deleting the Ritsu account does not affect that provider — that's a separate account.

Changed your mind?

Within 24 hours of clicking delete: email support@ritsu.ai. We can sometimes restore from a recent backup. After 24 hours: not possible.

Trouble

  • "Delete account" button is greyed out — usually means you have an active Team subscription. Cancel the team or transfer ownership first.
  • Email confirmation step doesn't accept your email — case-sensitive in some browsers; copy-paste exactly.
